Asia Week New York 2012

Asia Week New York 2012 is a collaboration among Asian art specialists, 5 auction houses, and 17 museums and Asian cultural institutions in the metropolitan New York area from March 16-24, 2012. Simultaneous exhibitions presented by more than 30 prominent Asian art dealers from the U.S. and abroad, auctions at, Bonhams, Christie’s, Doyle New York, iGavel, and Sotheby’s as well as dozens of special events are planned for this period.

Asia Week’s opening reception at The Morgan Library & Museum features four rarely exhibited Chinese objects from the Morgan’s collection (on view March 13 – 27): a Western Zhou bronze vessel formerly in the collection of the Qianlong emperor, a Northern Qi head of a Bodhisattva from the caves at Xiangtangshan, a Tang-dynasty Maha ̄ parinirva ̄ na Sutra, and a bottle vase of the Kangxi period.
